I was very touched to meet Mrs Linda Liu and her husband at my studio in Curepipe. Mrs Liu is a teacher from a school in Sainte - Anne - de - Bellevue, Quebec, Canada, called "Bout de L'isle Primary School."
Linda discovered my paintings through the internet and started using this style as an example for her art teaching and designed a very unique and fascinating technique to teach her students how to create Zafer style art.
Linda based her teaching on the painting of fish that I did in the beginning of the year with children of the age of 6 - 8.
She told me : " Your fishes (Zafer) have inspired my young students. Overall my students loved and appreciated your Zafer paintings !"
It was a great pleasure to see the work of some of Linda's students and to think that my Zafer style has crossed oceans to find its way into a classroom in Canada.
Linda told me that she soon will be using some of my landscape paintings with older children and I am impatient to see the results.
I would like to thank Linda Liu for finding my art and using
it for educational purposes. I realised that the Zafer style is quite interesting for young children since it involves the use of bright colours and geometric shapes.
Teachers from primary and pre-primary schools in Mauritius have also used this style too as examples in their art classes. At the bottom you can discover the works of children from " Les Petits Futés"- Ecole du centre, Collège Pierre Poivre. Here the teachers have chosen one of my paintings called "Pieter-Both seen from Manhattan," a satyrical painting about the growth of sky scrapers in Mauritius.
My deepest thanks go to all the teachers who have been working with this style in their art classes and who have been so kind to send me some pictures of the children's works.
